Important Photobucket Announcement
Dear Photobucket Friends:
As you may have already heard, today Photobucket announced that it has accepted an offer to be acquired by Fox Interactive Media (FIM), a division of News Corporation. This is a really big piece of news for us at Photobucket.
First and foremost, we expect nothing to change in our day-to-day operations. After the transaction is closed and finalized, the plan is to operate Photobucket as an independent, standalone company within FIM.
We plan to continue developing innovative tools that enhance self-expression and give you the best media sharing, linking and searching experience on the Web. Partnering with FIM will give us added resources and support to deliver on this vision, as well as the ability to offer new features for you -- our most important audience.
If you have questions or just want to drop us a line, write a comment here on the blog, or email us at pbsupport@photobucket.com. We read all your emails and messages. Keep them coming. And most importantly, keep all the great ideas coming.
I thank you for your support, and for all the ways you teach us what is truly meaningful about the Photobucket experience. We are extremely excited about Photobucket’s future, and look forward to continuing to bring you the very best personal media site in the world.
Regards,
Alex Welch, CEO, co-founder, Photobucket, Inc.
accept my congrats for the 4th birthday of photobucket and also on opening of pb store online. regarding controversy about FOX AND MY SPACE i want to keep away. thank you because photobucket's service till now was worth commending since it maintained standard and love of the members and it will continue to do so in future as well. but i am sad because very many members are going to leave photobucket. sorry for that. things have reached to that extent that no solution seems to be evolved. all the best.

Congrats! These whining crybabies need to grow up. Taking drugs is causing you to be paranoid.

This is NOT good news at all. I'm out researching for a new place to store my photos.
Fox is NOT worth doing business with.
Goodluck, not only to the crew at PB, but also to anyone who uses it via Fox!
Damn, I was always happy with photobucket, too!

ugh... I always said that I couldn't think of anything that would get me to leave photobucket and that i would even be willing to pay for it at this point if you started charging. Somehow you managed to find the one thing I hadn't thought of that would make me leave. I can not support a company that would sell out to Murdoch. I wish you luck but I won't be here with you for it. *sigh*

Uuughhhh...
I have a Pro account but I may just have to leave.
Photobucket has been reliable but they still haven't gotten around to making the interface run faster. Yet they continue to add all of these bells and whistles without taking care of the important things first.
And now with Fox and MySpace...what to expect? Is it going to be a bunch of hoohahs that are popular with 14-year-old girls but are just plain annoying to those of us who are just looking for a quality hosting service.
It's bad enough that Photobucket endorses the theft of our photographs and then also lets the abettor (QOOP) get paid for it. But that's a complaint for another time.

I'm not happy about this at all. I have had enough issues with my privacy being compromised in the past and thought this was a good place to be, but now that you guys are going to FOX...I'm out of here. Not having it.

I'm.. very worried about this.
Congrats on the sale, but please be careful that you don't go the way of other sites such as Myspace. If that happens, I may have to find somewhere else.

I am not thrilled at all by the news. Knowing all the hidden agenda of Murdoch and his acolytes I don't feel my pivacy being safe anymore. I am moving and it's with regret because you guys did a great job.

I'm not thrilled with this news. I've sent many people to photobucket with glowing recommendations and am a happy paid subscriber myself, but the idea of FOX and myspace really turns me off.
You've done great things with the service since I first signed up as a freebie account. Here's hoping none of that will change. I'll reserve final judgment, but will definitely be scouting alternatives in the meantime.
Thanks for all the good times, Alex.

big companies always screw things up, and the biggest problem here is privacy. all our stuff is gonna be spied on and checked on. damn homeland security

Boy, not too excited about this one but at least the public spat between MySpace and PB will be gone. I just hope PB stays free and we don't have major system downtime with the pictures!

funny how just a few months ago MySpace blocked photobucket images from their site, and now you're both owned by the same parent company...

If PB doesn't remain a freebie site, I know my friends and I will start using InselPix.com for storage of our pix.

Ohh, MAN!! After Fox took over Myspace it went downhill what with the overdoes of advertising and "improvements". I hope that doesn't happen here.

Congratulations! Joining MySpace and Fox Interactive will greatly benefit PhotoBucket with its vast resources, expertise, and virtually unlimited opportunities.
I have gone through a FIM/MySpace acquisition and know that both companies will enhance the Photobucket experience.

I hope this site will not post a lot of adds after the transaction, just like myspace did when it was bought out

Congratulations guys!

Now that Photobucket is part of the Murdoch empire, will there be any changes to the terms and conditions? Do the images I host with you remain mine and only mine to use or can I expect them to be used without my knowledge or permission in some other of Mr Murdoch's business ventures?
I'm sure I'm not the only one considering my future with Photobucket.

I've only been with you for a few months and I really like your site...knowing the reputation of FOX and the people they side with, does this mean if I stay with you they will spy on me through my computer??? this news, for me , is very scary!

Is photobucket an affiliate of Yahoo! ?

This actually could be a great thing. The video players will probably be better. FIM owns SpringWidgets.Com. If I were a bettin' man, I'd say FIM wanted a video hosting company that could deliver high quality video through one of their widgets.
